Family Road Trip

The day my biggest loser contest ended we headed out of town for a long overdue family vacation. We put almost 2600 miles on the new van in 8 days. We were able to see lots of family and friends that we have not seen in way too long. It was a lot of driving, but a lot of fun too! We stayed in Vegas the first night with my sister Sara and her cute family. We spent Sunday watching General Conference with them...wonderful! Then we headed to San Diego (Poway to be specific) to stay with my Uncle Donny and Aunt Becky. While we were there we were able to spend some time with lots of other family members: my grandparents; my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Nancy and some of their kids and grandkids; Mike's sister Shellie and her husband, Adrian, and his daughter, Patricia; and Mike's old roommate, Jason, and his cute wife and little boy. One day we went to the Taylor Guitar factory to go on a tour and then to Old Town for Mexican food and to check out the new Mormon Battalion Museum. After a few days in San Diego we headed north to Mike's niece, Ashley's, in Pasadena. On the way we drove along Hwy 1 and stopped to see some friends in San Clemente. At Ashley's we played with her cute baby, June, and their pug, Lucy. My sister in law, Wendy, is "living" there part of the time while working for Skywest so we got to see her too. The next day we headed (with Wendy, Ashley, June, and Lucy) to Bakersfield to spend the day with another of Mike's nieces, Jacque. It was her birthday so we all went to Olive Garden for lunch. It was fun to spend part of the day with her and her cute girls, Maggie (2) and Charley (6 weeks). Mike's other niece, Shannon, was there staying with Jacque so we got to see her too! We said our goodbyes that afternoon and headed even further north to stay with Mike's sister, Cheryl, and her husband, Jon. The kids LOVE Aunt Cheryl and were so excited to go to her new house and play with all the dogs and cats. We spent one day at Mercer Caverns...awesome! The kids rode their scooters and skateboards and we just hung out. From there we headed home...it was a long, but fun, trip.
